이 문장은 세 덩어리인데 뒤의 두 덩어리는 an economy를 설명하는 덩어리들이예요.
- I think we’re in an economy : 내 생각에 우리는 어떤 경제적 상황에 처해있다고 해요.
- that is getting where we wanted it to be and, : 우리가 있기를 원하는 곳으로 향해가는 그런 상황에 처해 있다고 합니다. 그리고 끝에 and가 붙어서 또 어떤 상황인지 설명해요.
- what the Fed is looking for as well : Fed 찾고 있는 곳이래요.
그니까 지금 경제 상황이 우리가 원했던 곳인 동시에 Fed가 찾고 있던 곳으로 가고 있다는거죠. 목표 지점으로 가고 있다는 말이니 나쁘지 않네요. 문단에 이 문장 뒤의 문장들은 경제 상황을 긍정적으로 판단한 근거를 대고 있어요.
자, 여기서 제가 주목한 표현은 ‘where we wanted it to be’입니다.
우리가 장소나 위치를 설명할 때, ‘next to’나 ‘above’같이 주변 지물과의 관계를 통해 설명할 수 있지만 그냥 ‘내가 (그곳에) 있기를 원했던’처럼 그 장소에 대한 나의 감정이나 생각으로 설명하는 경우도 많다고 생각해요.
이 구문은 문법적으로 어려운 부분은 전혀 없다고 생각이 되어서 그냥 비슷한 형태의 구문이 들어간 예문을 많이 찾아서 공유할게요.
